Family Penthouse in Ashdod

Planning and design for a second-hand apartment bought by a well-established family. The apartment also has a generous terrace.

The form of the kitchen divides the central space into living room and kitchen, and here too it matters that the people in the kitchen can talk to the people sitting in the living room. The large worktops answer the client's need for baking and for rolling dough. The design approach is relatively classical, and rests on timber and stone — brick.

The bathroom is hidden behind the headboard wall, and beside the bed a long wardrobe was built that looks longer than it is, thanks to the mirror set into the wall it runs into. Opposite the wardrobe, and behind the headboard wall, a dressing and make-up corner is tucked away.

In the master bathroom the lighting is there to spread light well for putting on make-up, and the length of the LED profile — set between the joinery of the unit and the mirror above it and the wall above them — makes a continuous line that lends the room depth. A double basin, for the couple getting ready efficiently in the morning.

The children's bathroom holds a laundry cupboard on the right, a bath, and a wall clad in a light brick-look tile. The cupboard turns diagonal, to repeat the idea of long continuous lines and the optical illusion of a larger room.
