Developer Apartment for a Young Couple

A young couple with a child bought an apartment in a developer's building. It came to me the moment it was handed over. The central entertaining space was divided into three parts: a living room near the glazed opening onto the balcony, a dining area, and at the end of the space nearest the entrance, a kitchen. A classic arrangement that has proved itself many times.

To give the round dining area a space of its own, I made a partial bend in the wall beside the table, and the ceiling carries that same bend on — closing a circle in both senses, and picked out with concealed lighting in an unusually thin slot. The design language of the house is drawn from a European idea of natural urban materiality. In the television wall there is a groove that continues the ceiling of the corridor leading to the bedroom wing.

In the master bedroom the design is classical, warm and refined, with reddish reclaimed brick, classic shaded wall lights, and a bed with a capitonné headboard. It gives the room a classical look with a modern note.

One room connected to the master bedroom was chosen for a dressing room rich in storage. The thought was that until the second child arrived, the room would serve as the parents' wardrobe. As it happens, the dressing room did not last long, because the second child arrived a few years later.
